Goal Magic

Feb 12, 2018

I first met Michael Banks at a mock pitching competition when I was a scholar in the Goldman 10,000 Small Businesses program. I was scared to death that day (literally shaking and sweating), but I will never forget how Mike helped me through my nerves and inspired me to improve through positive feedback.

I brought him some Whipped Bakeshop cupcakes as a thank you gift and we've been friends ever since.

I think it's fair to say that Mike's support helped give me the courage to launch this podcast with Cynthia. That's why I wanted to make sure he was the first person we interviewed for GOAL MAGIC.

As the CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce, Michael Banks is an influential community leader here in my hometown of Philadelphia. He's a big believer in empowering people to achieve their dreams.

In this episode, Mike shares his amazing personal journey from dropping out of high school at the age of 17 to running a multi-million dollar trading desk at one of the biggest banks in the world.

And that’s just the start.

Believe it or not, Mike leveraged his people skills at an hourly job at Wawa to make it all happen. Well, that and he can also convert fractions to decimals in his head.

But it was mostly the people skills.

Mike also shares how he dug out of his deepest hole to emerge stronger and even more resilient.

If you're feeling stuck facing a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, this is the episode for you!

If you'd like to connect with Mike, you can find him on LinkedIn and also follow him on Instagram @mikemotivates_.

Keep it Magic,
Brennen
