Goal Magic

May 15, 2019

My guest today, Laura Gassner Otting, author of Limitless: How to Ignore Everybody, Carve Your Own Path, and Live Your Best Life talks to me about everything from screwing the Joneses, why “entrepreneur” is code for “bad employee,” anchor jobs and orbit jobs, doing your career your own way,  and so much more.

Her book debuted as #2 in the Washington Post bestseller list right behind Michelle Obama.

I LOVED this book so much that I highlighted, penciled, and dog eared the pages in prep for the interview with Laura. And special for our Goal Magic listeners, we are doing a giveaway where you can enter yourself for a free copy of Laura’s book through Instagram, so check us out there if you haven’t already!

About Laura Gassner Otting:

Through Limitless Possibility, Laura collaborates with change agents, entrepreneurs, investors, leaders and donors to push past the doubt and indecision that consign great ideas to limbo. She delivers strategic thinking, well-honed wisdom, and catalytic perspective informed by decades of navigating change across the start-up, nonprofit, political, and philanthropic landscapes.

Laura’s 25-year resume is defined by her entrepreneurial edge. She served as a Presidential Appointee in Bill Clinton’s White House, helping shape AmeriCorps; left a leadership role at respected nonprofit search firm to expand the startup; and founded and ran the Nonprofit Professionals Advisory Group, which partnered with the full gamut of mission driven nonprofit executives, from start-up dreamers to scaling social entrepreneurs to global philanthropists. She is the author of Mission-Driven, a book for those moving from profit to purpose, and the recent book Limitless: How to Ignore Everybody, Carve Your Own Path, and Live Your Best Life.

Through her own commitment to give back, Laura has helped build a local Montessori school, co-founded a women’s philanthropic initiative, advised a start-up national women’s PAC, grew a citizen-leadership development program, and completed three charity-inspired marathons—projects emblematic of her passions and values. She’s turned on by the audacity of The Big Idea and that larger-than-life goal you just can’t seem to shake. She’s an instigator, a motivator, and a provocateur, and she’s never met a revolution she didn’t like.

Here’s to Getting Unstuck,

This week our show is brought to you by our introductory Getting Unstuck Program, which is a FREE course. I pushed passed the fear and then enlisted my own advice, which is detailed out in Goal Magic’s Getting Unstuck Program, and I can tell you honestly and with complete sincerity that this stuff works, folks! I now have 3 signed contracts and more inquiries about my work than I can manage in any given day. If you want those same results and to find that path forward in whatever way you want to get unstuck, then enroll now at This is different from our usual emails that we send from time to time so if you want IN on this, sign your badass self up and work your way to freedom, my friends!
